Great news for anyone who has invested in ERP business and ecommerce software; the ecommerce market seems to be up again this year, according to a recent report from comScore. Spending for the second quarter of this year reached $43.3 billion, which is up 15 percent from this time last year. This is the seventh quarter in a row of double-digit growth on a year-over-year basis.
ComScore said highlights from this year include that 42 percent of ecommerce transactions included free shipping, something that seems to be a hallmark of websites that do a good job of making sales online.
“While the second quarter’s 15-percent growth rate couldn’t quite match the especially high growth rate from the first quarter, it was nevertheless almost four times higher than the growth in overall consumer spending, a sign of continued strength in the e-commerce channel,” said comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni. “That said, although e-commerce remains strong, we are taking a cautious view of the second half of the year in light of some renewed signs of economic uncertainty and a stubbornly high unemployment rate."
Good ecommerce software will provide a better customer experience, allow businesses to see reports of sales and transactions, save the company time and money and always know what it has in stock, which are all keys for keeping these great sales moving.
