Most of an MRP software is the setup and the many options provided by the application but the real power lies in the MRP planning workbench.
Anytime Supply Chain software is organized to help planners to be more efficient in the demand planning process. For example, suggested orders can be filtered by type so all purchase order planning exceptions can be seen together or the planner may choose to view all messages filtered by warehouse or other criteria.
The planning workbench includes five informational panels:
Main (Planned Orders) – Shows suggested work order action messages and purchase order action messages and can be filtered and sorted by MRP action message code, warehouse, and other information.
Transaction Detail – Displays related transactions for the suggested or planned order selected in the main panel. This allows the planner to see where the demand came from for the order.
Period Summary – Summarizes all supply and demand for the item by period so the planner can quickly see what’s coming in, what’s on hand, and what’s going out.
MRP Action Messages – Show more information about actions to be taken by the planner including suggested move-in or move-out information and options to mark the action as completed, set for follow-up, firmed (keep in the plan for future review), or release.
Inventory Panel – Displays all relevant information for the selected item and warehouse including safety stock, buyer, planner, lead time, units of measure, and much more.
The MRP Planning workbench software is typically used on a large screen monitor providing a lot of information on one screen at one time. However, planners may choose to overlay, cascade, or to hide panels that are less important to them. The layout can be saved for future use.
All grids in the MRP planning workbench software can be customized to hide, display or to rearrange the information based on the user’s preferences.
Anytime Supply Chain Planning Workbench provides all of the information a buyer or planner needs to make decisions on purchase orders, transfer orders, and work orders.
